
Men's Soccer Earns First Weekly WAC Award As Do Rego Is Named Goalkeeper of the Week

RIVERSIDE - California Baptist University freshman Hugo Do Rego was honored by the Western Athletic Conference for his stellar play last week by being named the Goalkeeper of the Week to open the 2024 season. Do Rego joins an elite list of CBU keepers to earn this award.in the Division I era alongside Albert Escuin and Nolan Premack previously.
Do Rego contributed greatly to CBU's successful East Coast road trip, posting double clean sheets on opening weekend, saving a pair of shots at American University and adding a CBU freshman record nine saves against #6 North Carolina in Chapel Hill in the Tar Heels home opener. The nine saves were the most against UNC since August 2021 when VCU stopped 13 shots, with Sunday's game happening in front of a Dorrance Field record crowd of 3,501 fans..
The Lancers are now set to return to Riverside to host their home opener against CSU Bakersfield. The Roadrunners will visit the CBU Soccer Stadium on Saturday, August 31, for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff. CSUB has opened the season against two other WAC foes, defeating Utah Tech 1-0 and drawing with San Jose State 1-1.
