ARLINGTON--- The Western Athletic Conference announced Yasna Petrova of the California Baptist University cross-country and track as one of the conference's two nominees for the 2024 NCAA Woman of the Year Award.
The NCAA Woman of the Year program was established in 1991 and honors the academic achievements, athletics excellence, community service, and leadership of graduating female college athletes from all three divisions. To be eligible, a nominee must have competed and earned a varsity letter in an NCAA-sponsored sport and must have earned her undergraduate degree by summer 2024.
Yasna Petrova has been a mainstay in the CBU record books since she came to Riverside in 2021. Since that time, Petrova has earned four First Team All-WAC nods, two WAC silver medals in the Women's 5K, 3x All-West Region, and an All-American honorable mention at the 2023 Outdoor Track and Field National Championships in the 5K. Petrova was the top finisher at the program's first-ever trip to Cross Country Nationals in 2022 and was the 6K runner-up at the WAC Championships in 2022.
