ARLINGTON, TX--- The Western Athletic Conference announced its weekly runners of the week on Monday afternoon, with California Baptist University cross-country sweeping the awards.
Zouhair Redouane and Ava Dyck were the winners for CBU after impressive showings over the weekend at the UCR Invitational. Redouane and Dyck were the top placers for CBU and helped the men win the event and the women place third in a deep field. The Invite boasted teams such as Arizona State, Utah State, and Cal Poly, and it was one of the more loaded races that UCR hosted.
Redouane claims his second WAC weekly award after earning the honor following his first-place finish at the Mark Covert Invitational to begin the season. Redouane and Valentin Soca were the top two finishers in the race, as the Lancers would have six of the top 11 placers. Redouane clocked in at a time of 23:33.0, which would best his Mark Covert 8K time by 12 seconds.
Ava Dyck brought home the Women's Runner of the Week honor from the WAC after placing fifth at the UCR Invitational in her first collegiate race. Dyck was CBU's top placer on the women's side, clocking in with a time of 20:09.2 in the Women's 6K. Dyck's finish helped the women earn a podium spot, finishing just behind Cal Poly and the eventual winner, Utah State.
