LOS ANGELES, CA--- The California Baptist men's water polo team headed to the University of Southern California for a match-up against the #3 squad in the nation on Friday evening. The Trojans ended the night victorious with a 21-12 win over CBU, knocking down the Lancers to 6-7 on the weekend.
USC came out on fire during the first quarter, putting away eight goals and limiting the Lancers to just one. The second quarter produced much better results for CBU after Kevin Rosa's squad nailed five goals, with a pair coming from Andrea Nuzzo. CBU headed into halftime down by seven goals but continued to chip away at the deficit, scoring four more goals in the third and a pair in the fourth period against the ranked team. Ultimately, the Lancers were unable to keep pace with USC after the Trojans scored eight goals in the second half for their 11th victory of the season.
Bodhi Bowden earned his second four-goal game of the week against the Trojans on six attempts, while Nuzzo flipped a hat trick in Los Angeles. The California Baptist Lancers will be back in action next weekend as they take on the Gary Troyer Tournament in Pomona.
