AJ Braun Earns WAC Newcomer of the Week After Double-Double vs Seattle U

RIVERSIDE--- For the first time this season, the California Baptist University men's basketball team earned a Western Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Week winner after a stellar performance from senior forward AJ Braun in the conference opener on Saturday.
Braun helped the Lancers start conference play 1-0 with a 16-point, 12-rebound double-double against Seattle U as the Lancers went on to win 61-59 at home. Braun went 6-11 from the field in the victory, leading the team in scoring and rebounding for his third double-double of the season. The former Wright State Raider has been a model of consistency for the Lancer, starting every game thus far and averaging 9.2 points per game.
Braun led the NCAA in field goal percentage last season and is averaging over 50% this season while giving CBU 22 minutes per game in the middle. The Newcomer of the Week accolade is Braun's first as a Lancer and the first time CBU has won the award this season.
