MSOC Preview: Lancers Head to San Diego with the Postseason Picture Wide Open
10/30/2025 3:45:00 PM | Men's Soccer
SAN DIEGO, Calif. --- The field for the 2025 WAC Tournament is up in the air with one match remaining in the regular season. CBU will be in San Diego this weekend to take on San Diego State, as not only could the Lancers have a chance to win the WAC, but they may also be playing for their season.

Entering the final week of the regular season, only Utah Tech and San Diego State have clinched a spot in the WAC Tournament, which begins on November 9 at the CBU Soccer Stadium. Air Force, which earned its first conference point last weekend, is the only team to have been mathematically eliminated from the field.

Along with CBU, Grand Canyon, San Jose State, UNLV, and Utah Valley are all in the running for the final four spots.

What all is at stake for the Lancers remains to be seen, as CBU will wait on the result of a Friday night match to see how high they can climb in the postseason picture. Should Utah Tech not win on Friday night against Utah Valley, a win for the Lancers on Saturday would clinch the WAC regular season championship and the top seed in the postseason for CBU.

A Utah Tech win on Friday would take away the chance for CBU to claim the one seed. The Lancers could still clinch a first-round bye with a win against the Aztecs.

SDSU can claim the top seed with a win on Saturday or a draw if Utah Tech does not win as well.

The Lancers enter the weekend sitting on ten points in the conference table. CBU lost, 2-1, against Utah Tech on Sunday night. Sophomore Blake D'Agostino netted his tenth goal of the season, but a pair of goals off corner kicks did the damage for the visiting Trailblazers.

D'Agostino enters the final week of the season second in goals. Grand Canyon's Junior Diouf leads the WAC with 12.

The Aztecs enter the weekend with a 7-7-2 overall record and sit on 11 points with their 3-1-2 mark in the WAC. SDSU is coming off a 1-0 road win against Utah Valley last week and has also secured WAC victories against Utah Tech and Air Force. Juan Zepeda and Christian Engmann lead the team with four goals each.

Saturday's match, scheduled for 7 p.m., will be streamed live on WAC International.
