RIVERSIDE--- For the second time this season, the California Baptist University volleyball team has brought home the Western Athletic Conference Setter of the Week award as Reese Reed brought home the honor after a career week.
The award is the second for CBU, following Maddie Brown's earlier honor, and it marks the first of Reed's career.
The senior setter played her final two matches in Van Dyne gym this week and set career-best numbers in assists as she helped the Lancers go 1-1. Reed helped CBU dominate Southern Utah at home on Senior Night with a then-career-high 31 assists to pair with seven digs and two aces in a sweep. Reed followed that up with a career-best 41 assists against Utah Tech as the Lancers battled the Trailblazers to a five-set defeat. Reed posted a double-double in the loss to Utah Tech with 41 assists and 13 digs, and would also register a pair of kills and blocks.
Reed has been a constant presence for the Lancers over the years, having played in over 90 matches in her career for CBU and has registered over 1,400 assists. She currently ranks third in assists with over 1,300, fifth in aces with 75, sixth in digs with 600, and sixth in sets played in the DI era for CBU.
Reed and the Lancers have one final conference match this week in Abilene, Texas, on Thursday, November 13, before the WAC tournament begins the following week.
