RIVERSIDE--- The California Baptist STUNT program claimed its fourth consecutive Joust Tournament win after knocking down Jessup University and the University of Kentucky on Saturday evening. The Lancers bested the Warriors in the first match of the day 24-0 before being tested by the Wildcats and securing the victory 21-5. CBU improves to 14-0 this season and is now just six wins away from the 100 mark as a program.
The Lancers started their day by beating the Warriors with a perfect game led by Ella Hodson, the Highest Rated Player of the Game, with 77 points. CBU was efficient on the mat and clean, proven in quarter three with excellent tumbling from the Tumbler of the Game, Alexcius York. Brodi Perrault was named Stunter of the Game for her 75 points on the mat, leading the Lancers to its fourth consecutive Joust Tournament championship game.
The second game of the day was CBU's biggest challenge yet this season as they welcomed undefeated Kentucky to the Dale E. and Sarah Ann Fowler Event Center. Despite the Wildcats scoring the most points against CBU this season, the Lancers still proved to be the better team. Maddison Arochi scored 71 points for her efforts on the mat, earning Highest Rated Player honors as she led the Lancer past the Wildcats. Abigail Eshleman was also significant in the win against Kentucky after tallying 46 points as Tumbler of the Game, while Ava Hersman sealed the victory with 67 points as Stunter of the Game.
California Baptist landed three Joust All-Tournament Team athletes, as Bailee Henry was named to the second team, and Perrault and Arochi were named to the first team. Other All-Tournament honorees included Sophia Uriate from Jessup, Sloan Quinzon from ASU, and Isabella Franzella and Isabella Doria from Kentucky.
The 2025 Joust Tournament win is CBU's fourth consecutive championship and will help the Lancers keep their eyes on the prize as Nationals are in one month. California Baptist will turn its attention to its game on March 21st in Irvine as it takes on Concordia University, Irvine.
