Kim Hits a Pair of Home Runs as CBU Battles Highlanders

RIVERSIDE--- Ryan Kim was the highlight of California Baptist baseball on Sunday evening as the Lancers closed out the split series at The Plex as they battled UC Riverside for a second time this weekend. Kim sent two home runs way out the park but it was not enough to best the Highlanders on their home turf, as CBU fell 7-4 and move to 4-8 on the season.

After a scoreless first, Kim put Gary Adcock's squad on the board with his first home run of the evening in the top of the second. The Highlanders did not have a response until the bottom of the third when the home team plated a trio of runs courtesy of two doubles. Kim took matters into his own hands again and blasted another home run over left-center field to cut UCR's lead to just one before returning in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI single to tie the game 3-3.

The Highlander's offense was relentless and continued to find gaps in the CBU defense, posting a pair of runs across the fourth and fifth innings. After UCR tallied another two runs in the sixth, Jake Brown came up with an RBI double that scored Nicholas Dumesnil to bite into the Highlander lead, but it was not enough for a complete comeback. Kim boasted four hits on the day with three runs and now has four home runs on the season.

The Lancers will return home on Tuesday evening as they welcome Loyola Marymount University for a midweek tilt against the Lions at 6 p.m.
