MANHEIM, PA--- The California Baptist University wrestling program was honored as the 2025 NCAA DI Men's Team Scholar Champions on Thursday afternoon by the National Wrestling Coaches Association.
The award is given to the team with the highest cumulative team GPA and showcases the program's strong commitment to both academic and athletic excellence. The Lancers boasted a GPA of 3.7005 and beat out top-tier programs such as Harvard, Penn, Cleveland State, Little Rock, Utah Valley, Sacred Heart, Drexel, Michigan State, and Stanford, among others, who made up the top ten in the nation.
CBU had seven individual scholar All-Americans, as announced last week by the NWCA, including David Berkovich, Paul Kelly, Elijah Griffin, Tristan Kemp, Carter Schmidt, Drayden Morton, and Daniel Manibog.
NWCA Executive Director Mike Moyer congratulated California Baptist Head Coach Derek Moore and his team on their outstanding achievement, stating:
"Coach Moore and his team exemplify the true spirit of Scholar All-Americans by excelling both on the mat and in the classroom. Their dedication to academic success while competing at the highest level of NCAA D1 Men's wrestling is remarkable, and we congratulate them on earning this well-deserved honor."
