
Ghanshyani Paces Lancers Through First Round of WAC Tournament

LITCHFIELD PARK, AZ--- The California Baptist women's golf program jumped out to a hot start to open the Western Athletic Conference Tournament on Monday afternoon at the Wigwam Golf Club. CBU ended the day tied for second of nine programs, while Damini Law Ghanshyani secured a first-place spot after her terrific first round.
All individual counted scores for the Lancers landed in the top 25 after the first round, highlighted by Ghanshyani's 71. The junior currently sits at the top of the individual standings with two other golfers, one from Grand Canyon and one from UT Arlington. Samantha Dizon and Pusanisa Ekkantrong both ended their first rounds two-over par, while Burberry Zhang finished in 23rd with a 76 after the first day. Lisa Shimmon will represent the uncounted score for the Lancers, posting a 79 through the first round.
California Baptist's first golfer will tee off tomorrow at 9:40 a.m., and the last golfer will set off for round two at 10:20 a.m. The Lancers are tied in second with UTA at seven-over as a team, while Tarleton sits at the top of the standings, ahead by just one stroke.
