
CBU Concludes Bryan Clay Invitational with a Day of 1500's

AZUSA/LA VERNE--- The California Baptist University track team concluded their run at the Bryan Clay Invitational on Friday evening with several heats of the 1500 while also competing in the La Verne Invitational with a smaller contingent.
LA VERNE INVITE:
The Lancers kicked off their day at the La Verne Invite, where 11 athletes competed in the Men's and Women's 1500s. On the women's side, Emely Ruiz paced CBU with a top-30 finish and a time of 5:08.13, while Taylor Bolotn would be the second to cross the finish line at 5:35.49. For the men, it was the duo of Jacob Orta and Evan McReynolds who paced the group with top-25 finishes. Orta and McReynolds would both earn personal bests in the race with finishing times of 4:09.58 and 4:09.61, respectively.
BRYAN CLAY INVITE:
CBU kicked off a day of 1500s with two runners in the morning field, Ana Mees and Nazarene Rivas. Mees would earn a personal best time of 4:46.03 in the open run, placing her in 18th among the 74 runners in the field. Rivas would clock in at 4:59.74, falling just two seconds short of her personal best time, which she had set at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic two weeks ago.
In the evening session, the Lancers would compete in the open, invite, and elite sections of the 1500s, beginning with a handful of runners in the men's and women's open sections. Petra Sara Kiss would pace the women with a top-50 finish and a time of 4:37.12, which would be a new PB by three seconds. On the men's side of things, Finn Anspach continued a solid debut meet by finishing at 3:49.53. In the invite section, Laura Acuna would clock in at 4:25.88, which would be five seconds off of her personal best time that she set at the Bob Larsen Invite.
Pedro Marin and Daniel Abdala would continue their fantastic seasons in the invite section of the 1500 and would come away with near PRs. Marin would be the top finisher among the two runners with a time of 3:44.97, which was one second off his personal best time. Abdala would cross the line at 3:57.83, leaving him short of his personal best time as well. Ava Dyck would also continue her phenomenal true freshman season in the event as she and fellow freshman Helena Mees would compete in the open section of the 1500. Mees would pace the two with a PR of nearly seven seconds at 4:31.92. Dyck would clock in at 4:40.84, which would be short of her impressive performance at the Bob Larsen Invite. Lorenzo Riba would close out the evening for the Lancers in the men's open section with a time of 3:51.38.
NEXT: The Lancers will conclude its regular season with a trip to Los Angeles to compete in the Occidental Invite on Saturday, May 3.
