NASHVILLE, TN--- History was achieved again for the California Baptist STUNT program on Friday afternoon in Tennessee after Brandon Seagondollar's squad bested the University of Kentucky 17-13 for CBU's fifth-straight National Championship. The Lancers posted another undefeated season, going 27-0 and improving the program record to 107-0.
Seagondollar's squad opened the National Tournament with a 15-0 mercy win over Mercyhurst before facing Kentucky for the first time this week. While Kentucky was sharp, the Lancers handled the game and posted another 14-4 mercy win to book a ticket to the team's fifth championship game. The Wildcats clawed their way out of the loser's bracket to force another meeting with the Lancers on Friday afternoon and performed even better than the day before. Kentucky went toe-to-toe with CBU and tied on several points while also scoring the most points ever scored against CBU, but it ultimately was not enough to best the undefeated program. The win over Kentucky on Friday marks the program's 107th win during the longest unbeaten streak in STUNT The Sport history and is the program's fifth-straight National Championship in the five years of the existence of the sport.
The National Tournament saw several standouts from the CBU team, including Maddison Arochi being named the highest-rated player twice against Kentucky and Abigail Eshleman securing a pair of Tumbler of the Game honors. Brodi Perrault, Ava Hersman, Layla Langrell, and Savannah Eshleman also earned individual game honors in Nashville, contributing to the legacy of CBU STUNT. As the historic season comes to a close, California Baptist will say goodbye to 10 seniors in Brie- Jaylin Hawkins, Bailee Henry, Alexandra Reynolds, Michaela Grim, Brodi Perrault, Courtney Sanchez, Sonia Massarelli, Emma Lewis, Miranda Evans, and Amanda Acosta.
