RIVERSIDE--- The California Baptist University men's water polo team is set to begin its season on Friday, August 29th, as they open the 2025 year in Irvine, California. The Lancers return to the pool after a successful 2024 campaign that saw the squad secure its first West Coast Conference Tournament Championship to return to the NCAA Men's Water Polo Tournament.
Of its 32-game spread, CBU will host 10 home games, including three WCC games against Pepperdine, Santa Clara, and San Jose State. The Lancers will kick off the season at a weekend tournament hosted by UC Irvine before heading to the East Coast to compete against Princeton, Harvard, George Washington, and UCLA. Upon their return to Southern California, CBU will host its first home game of the season as it welcomes Biola to the Lancer Aquatic Center on Thursday, September 11th.
Kevin Rosa's squad will make its debut at the MPSF Tournament in Los Angeles at the end of September before returning to Riverside to host the annual Joust Tournament. The CBU tournament will feature five opportunities to see the Lancers play from September 26th through the 27th, facing opponents such as UC Irvine and UC San Diego.
From there, California Baptist will participate in one more local tournament before opening WCC play at home against Pepperdine on Thursday, October 9th. CBU will then head to Colorado to face Air Force before taking on Santa Clara at home in the Lancer Aquatic Center. There will be a slight break in conference play for CBU as the squad will face off against Brown, Fresno Pacific, and Bucknell in Northern California before returning to WCC games.
The Lancers will finish regular-season play against Loyola Marymount and Pacific on the road, completing their final WCC match against San Jose State in Riverside. CBU will gear up for the WCC Tournament with one final home game against Cal State Fullerton before heading back to Colorado for the postseason.
The WCC Tournament is slated for Friday, November 21st, through Sunday, November 23rd, in USAF, Colorado, as Air Force will play host this season.
