Cao Leads Lancers in Strong Opening Day at Yellowstone

BOZEMAN, Mont. – After the first day of the Yellowstone Intercollegiate, the Lancers sit in fourth place in the team standings, led by sophomore Shuyi Cao, who finished the day in second place individually.
The Yellowstone Intercollegiate opened with 36 holes on a par-72 course. Cao carded an even 72 in the opening round before finishing Round 2 with a 1-under 71, putting her at 1-under through 36 holes. Cao and the tournament leader from North Dakota are the only two players under par after the first two rounds.
Senior Pusanisa Ekkantrong was the second Lancer on the leaderboard, finishing the day tied for 10th at 5-over. Junior Lisa Shimmon followed at 9-over, opening the tournament with an even-par 72 in the first round.
Senior Burberry Zhang finished the first day at 12-over, while junior Nana Ishikawa closed the day at 15-over.
The Lancers will look to close the gap in the team standings and compete for the team and individual titles when Round 3 begins tomorrow. Tee times are scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. PT, with live stats available on SCOREBOARD.
