2021-22
Went 16-9 on the season at 184 pounds… Started all 10 duals and went 7-3 and scored 29 dual points in the process… Posted six pins, with 1:32 as fastest… Ended the season on a 6-1 record in dual action... Took third at Iowa’s State Cyclone Open and fifth place at the Roadrunner Open... Earned NWCA Scholar All-America status.
2020-21
Went 6-1 at 184 pounds in the shortened season... Started all seven duals and scored 31 dual points, with four bonus-point wins, including three pins... Ended the season on a five-match winning streak... Posted his fastest pin in 1:06... Defeated opponents from Utah Valley, Cal Poly, Stanford, Fresno State and North Dakota State... His one loss came against then 18th-ranked Alan Clothier of Northern Colorado.
2019-20/REDSHIRT SEASON
Wrestled unattached in open tournaments during his redshirt season... Posted a 6-4 record at 184 pounds as an unattached grappler... All six wins came on pins, the fastest in 59 seconds... Went 3-0 and finished runner-up at 184-pound division as an unattached wrestler at California Collegiate Open.
HIGH SCHOOL
Prepped at Glennallen High in Glennallen, Alaska, where he graduated in 2019... Helped Panthers win three regional championships... Glennallen finished second at the 2018 Alaska State Championships... Won Alaska State Championship and served as team captain in 2017-18... Won region championships all four years... Named Outstanding Wrestler of the Region in 2017-18 and Alaska's Outstanding Wrestler as a junior... Also competed with Copper River Wrestling Club.
PERSONAL
Born in Anchorage and raised in Glennallen, Alaska... Son of Chad and Kelly Gerlach... Has four siblings: Briahna, Kael, Brynna and Zane... His great grandfather, Kenny Sailors, played basketball at the University of Wyoming and for the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics... His parents were college athletes, as well; Chad wrestled at Northwestern and Kelly played basketball at the Masters College... His aunt Aaron Sailors played softball at Corban University... Sister, Briahna, ran cross country and track at Abilene Christian... Enjoys music, especially the cello, violin and guitar; mechanics; hiking; swimming; martial arts and woodworking... Criminal justice major... Plans on becoming a homicide investigator for the FBI or police after graduation... Ephesians 6:12 is his favorite Bible verse.
