Miranda King

Miranda King joined the CBU swim and dive staff as the Head Diving Coach in August 2023. King is entering her second season as the Head Men's and Women's Diving Coach at California Baptist University (CBU), a decade after competing as a student-athlete on the CBU Dive Team under Coach Jeff Couto. In her inaugural season, she led the team to a remarkable year, with her divers mastering seventy-three new dives. Four school records were set under her guidance: Mario Del Valle Jr. broke the Men’s 1M, 3M (twice), and Platform records, while Natalia Bedolla set a new Women’s 3M record. Eight Lancer divers qualified for the NCAA Zone meet, with Del Valle Jr. and Gael Jimenez advancing to the NCAA Championships in five total events. Del Valle Jr. was named WAC Diver and Freshman of the Year, and Coach King earned WAC Men's Diving Coach of the Year honors.

In the 2022-2023 season, King took a hiatus from collegiate athletics to explore Event Technology Operations, traveling globally to assist with conferences and events. Prior to that, she coached at New Mexico State University (NMSU) in the Division I Western Athletic Conference (WAC). In her final season there, she had two divers qualify for the NCAA Zone E Championships.

During the 2020-2021 pandemic-affected season, NMSU divers achieved multiple top-eight finishes at the WAC Championships. The 2019-2020 season saw Italia Aranzabal set a school record on the three-meter board, and King coached her through a standout season that included a place in the Diving Olympic Trials for Mexico. King also helped multiple Aggies reach the NCAA Zone E Championships, where she consistently developed high-performing divers who earned several WAC Diver of the Week titles.
