Marc Machado joined California Baptist University as the men's and women's assistant golf coach in the 2011-12 season and was named the women's head coach in June of 2016. Machado is now entering his 15th season with California Baptist University.
Machado was instrumental in the Lancers' transition from the NAIA to the NCAA, as they became fully-fledged NCAA Division II members in 2013-14, with both teams immediately qualifying for the postseason. He was also very significant in helping the Lancers transition from NCAA Division II to NCAA Division I.
Under Machado, the Lancers have enjoyed perhaps their best two seasons of all time, culminating with a runner-up finish at the 2018 NCAA Division II Championships. The team also won two straight PacWest Championships with Machado, part of a four-peat in the conference. CBU has won 19 events under Machado, with an NCAA program-record seven wins (six tournaments) coming in 2016-17. CBU has also had 17 individual medalists during Machado's time.
Most recently, in the first year of the Division I transition (2018-19), the Lancers won three D-I tournaments and also set a new all-time program scoring average record of 294.80 in the 2018-19 campaign.
After the 2019-20 season was cut short to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Lancers played in a shortened 2021 spring season, where the team cracked the top-4 in every tournament they entered. The Lancers also won the SoCal Ryder Cup to open the season, taking an 11-1 victory over Cal State Fullerton. Sofia Chabon and Hailey Loh were both named Second Team All-WAC at the conclusion of the season, joining Erica Wang, Jocelyn Chee and Yifei "Sunny" Wang as the only Lancers to garner the All-WAC Team honors. The Lances also set a new all-time program record in the classroom, with a 3.950 team GPA!
In the 2021-2022 season, the Lancers posted the 2nd lowest team scoring average in program history at 298.96. The Lancers finished in the Top-4 six times out of 9 tournaments. CBU Women's golf posted the 23rd best winning percentage in all of NCAA Division 1, with a record of 103-33-1 for a winning percentage of 75.7%. The team "unofficially" won the WAC Championship by a total of 4 shots over NM State to end the season. Jocelyn Chee was named First Team ALL-WAC, and Sofia Chabon was named Second Team ALL-WAC.
In the 2022-2023 season, the Lancers posted what is now the 2nd lowest TEAM scoring average in program history at 297.97. The Lancers saw success on the TEAM stage and also on the Individual stage. The Lancers won 2 Tournaments and also had 3 Individuals medalists during the season. They also had tremendous success in the classroom and ended up with a team GPA of 3.764!
