Frank Ofori
- Induction:
- 2007
- Class:
- 1992
Perhaps the finest player in the history of the California Baptist University men’s tennis program, Frank Ofori was a two-time NAIA All-American first team honoree (1990 and 1992) after leading the Lancers to a pair of NAIA National Tournaments. In 1992, he received the Ward-Ballinger Memorial Award, which is annually given to the top tennis player in the NAIA.
From there, Ofori decided to turn pro at age 20 and played on the ATP Tour for five years, reaching the top 150 in doubles. He played in the U.S. Open and Wimbledon qualifying events and also played No. 1 singles in the Davis Cup for his native Ghana for 14 years. In 2004, he became the youngest person inducted into the Ghana Sportsperson Hall of Fame and recently had Centre Court at the Ghana National Sports Stadium named after him, the “Frank Ofori Centre Court.”
