WALTERS POWERS LANCER BASEBALL TO WILD 16-10 ROAD WIN OVER CAL STATE DOMINGUEZ HILLS
CARSON, Calif. (Wednesday, April 13, 2005) – Senior C Chris Walters (Riverside, CA/Notre Dame HS) had a career-high five hits, including a home run, scored twice, and knocked in a pair of runs, as the California Baptist University baseball team beat Cal State Dominguez Hills, 16-10, in a non-conference game in Carson Wednesday.
CBU (16-17-1) had four doubles and hit two home runs, while the Toros (18-22) had five doubles. CSDH used four pitchers, while the Lancers used three and made six errors, resulting in seven unearned runs. The Toros made three errors, which resulted in four unearned runs.
Sophomore RF Aaron Seuss (La Quinta, CA/Palm Desert HS/UC Riverside) had a three-run homer and knocked in another run, while freshman 2B Steve Goins (Riverside, CA/Arlington HS) had three hits, including a double, and knocked in four runs.
Sophomore LF Jordan Monroe (Corona, CA/Santiago HS) had a double, a single, and knocked in three runs, as senior DH Joey Hendricks (Covina, CA/Charter Oak HS/Concordia Univ.) had three hits, scored three times, and had two RBI. Senior SS Ryan Wigley (Bakersfield, CA/Bakersfield Christian HS/Coll. of the Sequoias) had a pair of hits and scored four times for the Lancers.
Sophomore LHP James Hibbard (Riverside, CA/Norte Vista HS) tossed four innings, allowing four runs (one earned) on four hits to pick up the win for CBU. Hibbard (1-0) issued two walks and struck out four. CSDH starter Michael Brown (0-2) went two innings, allowing seven earned runs on eight hits while walking one batter and striking out none in the loss.
The Lancers next travel to San Diego to take on Point Loma Nazarene Friday (April 15) in a Golden State Athletic Conference game, starting at 2:30 p.m. CBU then hosts the Sea Lions in a GSAC doubleheader the following day (April 16), starting at noon.
