His RBI single tied the game, and then 2 innings later, his second RBI of the game was a big one as his fifth inning sacrifice fly scored D.J. Hair with what proved to be the winning run, lifting California Baptist to a 5-4 win over San Diego Christian Saturday and completing a doubleheader sweep for the Lancers.
CBU also won the opener, 13-7.
With the sweep, the Lancers surge into fourth place in the GSAC, just 1 ½ games behind Concordia for third. They improve to 27-15 overall, 16-12 and have now won 3 straight.
San Diego Christian, which swept a doubleheader from the Lancers earlier in the season, falls to 16-18, 12-16.
In the nightcap, the Lancers broke a 4-4 tie in the fifth when Eric Krzysiak led off with a single. Jordan Monroe, who was 4-for-8 on the day, doubled, putting runners at second and third with no outs. Brandon Peters was hit by a pitch before Aaron Seuss lined out to second. Gipe then stepped in and hit a long fly to center, scoring courtesy runner D.J. Hair.
Brandon Daily, who gave up just one unearned run in 3.2 innings of relief, picked up the win. He relieved starter Brad Simmons with 2 out in the first after Simmons gave up a trio of runs that put the Hawks up 3-1.
The Lancers came right back with a pair of runs in the second, getting an RBI double from Jordan Lowe and a perfectly executed squeeze play by Dominic Zuniga to tie the game at 3-3. The Hawks got an unearned run in the third when Danny Gonzalez scored on a passed ball, but Gipe's RBI single tied the game in the third.

The Hawks put the tying run on second again in the sixth, this time with 2 outs, but Kyle Thomas came on in relief and struck out Jarmakowicz to end that threat. Thomas worked a perfect seventh for his first save of the year.
Seuss was 2-for-3 and his 17th home run of the season in the first.
In the opener, Steve Goins worked 7 strong innings, giving up 2 earned runs and striking out 5 to pick up his fifth win of the year. The Lancers jumped out to an 11-0 lead in the seventh inning before the Hawks put up 3 in their half of the seventh.
Peters, who was 2-for-3 with 3 RBIs, hit an RBI double in the Lancers' 3-run seventh that gave them an 11-0 lead. Zuniga also had 2 hits in the game.
