FRESNO, Calif. --- The No. 20-ranked California Baptist University knocked off Fresno Pacific University Thursday 10-7.
The Lancers jumped on the board early, taking a 3-1 lead by the end of the first quarter. CBU tallied three more goals in the second quarter, stretching their lead to 6-3. In the third quarter, the Lancers and the Sunbirds each netted one goal, giving the Lancers a 7-4 advantage. Fresno Pacific matched California Baptist score for score through the end of the fourth quarter, as each team found the back of the net three more times.
Chris Toy led the Lancers in the scoring column with four goals. Austen Ramer snatched nine saves in the contest.
The Lancers' next match is Friday at 7 p.m. CBU will face off against Brown in their first game of the Santa Clara Tournament, in Santa Clara, Calif. The Lancers will then play twice on Saturday, with their first match coming against Santa Clara at 9:20 a.m., and their second game against Concordia (Calif.) at 1:20 p.m. to wrap up their weekend.
