HELENA, Mont. --- Heather Couzens scored a season-high 21 points and notched her second double-double of the season with 12 rebounds as California Baptist University fell 89-58 to No. 23 Carroll (Mont.).
The Lancers (3-2) are still looking for their first road win after dropping both games of the Mountain West Bank Classic.
Carroll started putting the game away early when it used a 15-6 run to jump out to a 23-12 lead. The Saints pushed it out even further, taking their largest lead of the half at 37-18 with 3:59 left in the half. The Lancers closed the half with an 8-2 run to make it 39-26 at the half.
CBU cut to 11 at 39-28 just seconds into the second half and were still within striking distance, down 44-33, when Carroll scored 14 unanswered and the rout was on. CBU never got the score back under 20 and the Saints pushed it out to a 32-point lead, the largest of the game, with 1:51 left at 87-55.
The only other Lancer to score in double figures was Elisha Taylor who scored a career-high 10 points. She also dished out three assists and pulled down a pair of rebounds. Bryana Williams also grabbed a season-high 10 rebounds.
Kendra Morris, who left the game after getting an elbow to the face in the second half, was held to her lowest point total of the year with nine.
Carroll's Alysha Green scored a game-high 22 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the field, 4-for-8 from 3-point range. Jill Jagelski added 11 points for the Saints while Alex Dunn scored 10.
The Lancers won the battle of the boards, 41-33, but turned the ball over 22 times compared forcing just nine turnovers from the Saints.
CBU will have a chance to pick up its first road win in its next game when it travels to San Diego Christian, Dec. 1.
