FULLERTON, Calif. --- The NAIA's No. 2-ranked California Baptist University won both doubles' matches and the third by default to take a 3-0 lead to key its way to an 8-1 win over No. 18 Hope International Tuesday.
The Lancers improve to 13-1 overall, 11-1 GSAC. The Royals fall to 6-11, 2-9.
With a 3-0 lead heading into singles, the Lancers took a 4-0 lead when the Royals defaulted at No. 6. Andy Botsch then provided the clinching point with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Brett Harvey at No. 5. The Royals' lone point came at No. 1 when Rajko Mladenovic defeated Carlos Cirne-Lima, 6-4, 1-6, 10-7. Cirne-Lima, the Lancers' usual No. 2 player, filled in for All-American Alessandro Ventre, who was rested during singles' play.
