CLOVIS, Calif. --- For the fourth time this season No. 15 California Baptist defeated Fresno Pacific (7-17), this time in a 17-5 blowout.
“It was one of the best games we've played all season,” said Head Coach Rick Rowland.
The Lancers set the tone early, jumping ahead to a 6-1 lead after the first. CBU kept it going, leading 9-2 at the half before adding three more in the third to open the fourth with a 12-3 lead.
The Lancers, with mostly backups in the game, finished on a 5-2 run to win their tenth straight and 23rd of the year (23-3 overall).
CBU was particularly sharp on the day, converting on five of six man-up opportunities (season avg. .49 percent).
Aaron Steiger, the nation's leading scored at 93 goals, had five on the match. Alan Ogden had a strong performance with three goals and four steals.
Goalie Austen Ramer notched eight saves, two of which were penalty blocks. The keeper also recorded five steals against the Sunbirds.
Freshman Danny Mundy got in on the action with two scores while the Lancers had multiple players register goals.
CBU, the highest ranked non-NCAA team, will face No. 20 Brown Friday at the Santa Clara Tournament.
The match was a nice homecoming for Keith Jizmejian (Fresno) and Ogden (Clovis) as both players are from the area.
