RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- No. 5 California Baptist University wasted no time dispatching of GSAC foe The Master's Tuesday night, sweeping the Mustangs in a little over an hour.
The Lancers got the 3-0 (25-18, 25-23, 25-17) win with every player on their roster touching the floor.
CBU had just two players record double digit kill totals, led by Bree Rauschenbach and Ingrid Carmona at 10 apiece. Rauschenbach led all players with more than five attempts, recording a .471 hitting percentage, getting her 10 kills on just 17 attempts with two errors. She also added four blocking assists, one solo block and a service ace.
The only tense moments in the match came in the closely contested second game.
Head Coach Ryan McGuyre changed up the lineup to start the set and it took the Lancers about 10 points to find their rhythm, erasing an early four-point deficit to tie the game at 10-10.
CBU would build a four point lead as well, but the Mustangs were able to make a comeback of their own and tie the set at 17-17.
After the two teams traded the lead several more times, Rauschenbach ripped an emphatic kill down the center of the court to bring the home crowd to its feet for set point. After a long rally Jelena Dragovic dropped a ball just behind the Mustang block for the game-winner.
Nevena Dragovic and Taylor Parker shared setting duties in the match, with Dragovic recording 18 assists and Parker 16. Eleven of the Lancers' 13 players recorded at least one dig, with Jessica Kalama leading the team with eight.
CBU hit .267 for the match, while holding The Master's to just a .095 attacking percentage. The Lancers also out-blocked the Mustangs 7-1.
CBU improves to 27-4 overall, 14-3 GSAC and The Master's falls to 7-19, 2-15. The Lancers travel to Fresno this weekend for a matchup with No. 3 Fresno Pacific on Saturday.
