The win moves the defending conference champion Lancers to 5-2-1 overall, 3-1 (9 points) PacWest.
The Sea Lions fall to 2-6, 1-5 (3 points) with their fourth straight loss.
Jonathan Fausto and Cole Schmit both found the back of the net to give the Lancers all they needed offensively. The Lancers out-shot the Sea Lions 16-7, including a 7-3 advantage with shots on goal. Fausto also came up with an assist on the Lancers' second goal.
"We came out and dictated tempo for the majority of the game," said Head Coach Ryan Jorden. "We were not sharp on the finishing end and put ourselves in a few bad spots we didn't need to be in. But, I'm pleased that we were able to get back in the win column and start moving forward."
Fausto scored for the second straight game, heading in a ninth-minute corner kick to give the Lancers a quick 1-0 lead. Michael Salazar was credited with the assist.
Point Loma took just two first-half shots, both of them coming in the first 16 minutes. The Lancers didn't allow another shot until the 65th minute, a span of 49 minutes with even as much as a look on frame.
Despite dominating the first 45 minutes, the Lancers carried just a 1-0 advantage into the intermission. Then, in the 48th minute, Fausto set up Schmit with a perfectly placed cross right in front of the goal and Schmit buried his second strike of the season to give the Lancers an insurance goal.
Ian Clark made his first career start in goal for the Lancers, collecting three second-half saves to get his first career clean sheet and the Lancers' fourth shutout in eight games thus far.
