BRONCO INVITATIONAL (MEN'S 8K RESULTS) TEAM SCORES
SANTA CLARA, Calif. --- California Baptist University resumed action at the 2014 Santa Clara University Bronco Invitational on Saturday with a 11th-place finish, defeating conference foes Fresno Pacific and Academy of Art. The Lancers ended the morning with a total of 303 points in their competition, racing 22 other teams.
"Today was an excellent day for the men, we ran quite a bit faster as a team than last year on this course," head coach Ben Gall said. "This showed the men that they are in a perfect position to reach their very lofty postseason goals."
Senior Taylor Guske led the Lancers in the 8K with his time of 24:11.5, making it into the top-25 out of 182 runners.
"Taylor is turning into a great team leader who is providing a lot of confidence for the rest of the team with his consistently improving performances," said Gall.
Freshman Valentin Robert landed in the 44th spot with his posted time of 24:26.8, while Bryton Reim was a few seconds behind him, logging a time of 25 minutes flat.
"I was really proud of the way everyone ran today," said Reim. "I think we will be a very strong team by nationals."
As for the rest of the Lancers, Abdel-Samad El-Hajjami wasn't far behind Reim as he clocked in at 25:02.3. Freshman Hector Hernandez crossed the finish line at 25:22.71, while the rest of the Lancers were a few seconds behind him. Tyre Hines clocked in at 25:28.11, Lucas Graham finished at 25:32.21, Jeremiah Gotts ended his race at 25:32.4 and David Aguilar rounded the Lancers out at 25:47.4.
