Hernandez Leads the Lancers

IRVINE, Calif. — With most of the top runners resting and getting ready to move on to the postseason, California Baptist University competed at the West Coast Jamboree on Saturday.
The Invitational was held at Irvine Regional Park in Irvine, where junior Julian Hernandez led the Lancers with an overall 37th-place individual finish out of 105 runners with his time of 27 minutes, 13.34 seconds.
"Julian led the way and ran a strong race to finish off his season," said Coach Ben Gall. "We are proud of the guys and how they were able to finish the season strong."
Freshman Elliot Choe followed and landed in the 56th spot, with his posted time of 27:50.46, while fellow freshman Daniel Swann finished in 74th with a time of 29:06.39.
CBU currently ranks fourth in the region and 19th in NCAA Division II as the Lancers prepare for the PacWest Championship on Nov. 7 in Fresno, beginning at 10 a.m. The men are the three-time defending conference champions and the top-ranked team in the conference. Their stiffest competition will come from Azusa Pacific, Hawaii Pacific and Academy of Art.
