BRONCO INVITATIONAL (WOMEN'S RESULTS) TEAM RESULTS
SANTA CLARA, Calif. — California Baptist University resumed action at the 2014 Santa Clara University Bronco Invitational on Saturday, taking 11th place with a total of 301 points, beating Fresno Pacific and Academy of Art.
With her ninth-place finish (out of 172 runners), sophomore Caroline Barkechir led the Lancers to their 11th-place team finish, amongst 20 other teams with her 6K time of 20:42.11.
"I felt really good today during the race," said Barkechir. "The team did a good job and this plays a huge impact toward the conference meet we have in a few weeks."
Junior Veronica Hall landed in the 64th spot with her posted time of 21:49.4, while freshman Alicia Williams was three seconds behind her, logging a time of 21:52.9.
As for the rest of the Lancers, freshman Katie Deimling clocked in at 22:12.2, sophomore Millie Leitich finished in 22:28.3, while the rest of the Lancers were a few seconds behind her. Natalie Ball crossed the finish line at 22:31.9, followed by Ester Mueller at 22:42.7.
"The women ran a very strong race and finished close to No. 6-ranked Chico State," said head coach Ben Gall. "This showed our team that we belong at the top if the region. They are very excited for the postseason races coming up."
CBU continues to make strides toward the postseason as the Lancers head to the Bioloa Invitational on Saturday, which is set for a 9:00 a.m. start time in Irvine, Calif.
