RESULTS
IRVINE, Calif. --- With most of the top runners resting and getting ready to move on to the postseason, California Baptist University competed at the West Coast Jamboree on Saturday.
The Invitational was held at Irvine Regional Park in Irvine, where freshman Jennifer Buettner led the Lancers to their 10th-place team finish with 310 points. Individually, Buettner took 53rd out of 140 runners with her 5K time of 19:49.46.
"Jen ran a very strong race and should be happy with how her season ended today" said coach Ben Gall.
Fellow freshman Madison Hiatt finished in the 58th spot with her posted time of 19:55.49, while another freshman, Morgan Spurlock, was a few seconds behind her, logging a time of 20:27.11.
As for the rest of the Lancers, senior Bethany Bilton clocked in at 20:39.84, sophomore Cammy Linger finished in 22:20.82. Senior Georgina Pena crossed the finish line at 22:39.45.
CBU currently ranks fourth in the region and 14th in NCAA Division II as the Lancers prepare for the PacWest Championship on Nov. 7 in Fresno, beginning at 10 a.m. Last year, the Lancers finished third in the championship meet, but are the top-ranked team right now. Their stiffest competition will come from Azusa Pacific, Hawaii Pacific and Academy of Art.
