RESULTS
LOS ANGELES, Calif. --- California Baptist University's distance track team competed in three events at the Cal State L.A. Invitational Saturday afternoon.
In the 1500-meter run Bruk Assefa finished 12th with a time of 4 minutes, 4.04 seconds, while Julian Hernandez finished 54th in 4:18.26 . Right behind Hernandez was Daniel Swann who finished in 56th clocking in at 4:18.66. Townsend Kaneversky finished 90th and ran a 4:40.23. Raul Moreno finished 60th in the 400-meter dash running a time of 57.25.
"This was a great indication that our team is ready to have a very strong spring season," Coach Ben Gall said.
CBU put runners in the top 20 in the 3000-meter run. Valentin Robert finished first for the Lancers and second in the race with a time of 8:34.78. Tyre Hines ran an 8:57.69 and finished 17th. Ken Kipkorir ran a 9.19.85 finishing in 29th place.
In the second 3000-meter run, the Lancers made it to the top 10 runners. With Lucas Graham finishing up in third-place and clocking in at 8:53.90 while Leandro Santillon finished right behind him in fourth-place (8:55.44). Jorge Estrada finished seventh with a time of 8:59.50, while David Aguilar placed eighth with a time of 9:00.68. Jeremiah Gotts finished 10th with a time of 9:03.59.
"Today, the highlight was the 3K, for sure. Valentin, Lucas, Leandro, Tyre, Jorge, David and Jeremiah all ran personal best times," Gall said. "Valentin was fighting for the win on the last lap."
The Lancers will compete next at the Occidental Distance Carnival in Los Angeles on March 13 at 4:00 p.m.
