SAN MARCOS, Calif. -- Plenty of personal records were set by California Baptist University at the Cal State San Marcos Mangrum Invitational Saturday. The Lancers are peaking at the right time and preparing for three meets next week (the Mt. SAC Relays, Bryan Clay Invitational and Beach Invitational).
"This weekend was mostly just a chance to work on racing tactics and making preparations for big meets next week," head coach Ben Gall said.
Taylor Guske ran a personal best to take fourth place in the 3000-meter run with a time of eight minutes, 37.05 seconds.
In the 1500, Lucas Graham finished in 10th place clocking in at 4:01.96 seconds. Three Lancers hit personal records in the race, including Jeremiah Gotts, who took second place in his heat and 19th overall in 4:08.22. Daniel Swann and Elliot Choe also ran a PRs of 4:10.58 and 4:12.09, respectively.
Two Lancers finished top-10 in the 800-meter run. Tyre Hines took ninth with a personal record of 1:56.51, and Anthony Avila ran his season best time of 1:56.92 to take 10th.
"We are very pleased with the way the athletes competed today and the numerous PR's and season best times," Gall said.
In the 1600-meter relay, Avila, James Atwell, Swann, Hines and Graham all teamed up to finish seventh in 3:32.62.
The Lancers are back in action next week as the team separates and competes in three different events including the Mt. SAC Relays at Mt. San Antonio College on April 16-17, the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific on April 17 and the Beach Invitational at Long Beach State on April 18th.
