SAN MARCOS, Calif. -- With three events looming next week, California Baptist University warmed up at the Cal State San Marcos Mangrum Invitational Saturday and had two personal-best performances in the process.
"This weekend was mostly just a chance to work on racing tactics and making preparations for big meets next week," head coach Ben Gall said.
As a whole, the Lancers arguably had their finest performance in the 3000-meter. Kim Rabenstein and Claire Rainey each posted personal records to third and fifth place in the event with respective times of 10 minutes, 16.93 seconds and 10:24.06.
"We are very pleased with the way the athletes competed today and the numerous PR's and season best times," coach Gall said.
Madison Hiatt, Millie Leitich, Charlie Davidson and Alicia Williams teamed up in the 1600-meter relay for a bronze effort coming in at 4:00.25.
Individually, Leitich took 10th in the 800-meter run, crossing the finish line in 2:20.92.
In the 1500, Katie Deimling finished in 12th place clocking in at a time of 4:49.65, while Davidson took 19th in 4:54.82.
The Lancers are back in action next week as the team separates and competes in three different events including the Mt. SAC Relays at Mt. San Antonio College on April 16-17, the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific on April 17 and the Beach Invitational at Long Beach State on April 18th.
