RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- As the 2015 season winds down, giving California Baptist University a few more chances to improve before the NCAA Division II Championship meet, the Lancers are taking every chance they have to get better.
The Lancers split between two different meets Friday with some runners going to the Mt. SAC Relays and some at the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific. At Mt. SAC, Veronica Hall competed in the 1500-meter run and finished in sixth place in a new personal record of four minutes, 30.16 seconds. The time improves Hall's Division II national provisional qualifying mark, giving her a better seeding for the championship meet, and is now tied for the 10th fastest time in the nation for this season.
"I was very impressed with her performance today since she has been sick the last two weeks and just recently started feeling better," head coach Ben Gall said. "Hopefully her performance helps set the tone for the rest of the team tomorrow at Long Beach".
The highlight of the Bryan Clay events was Alicia Williams' second-place finish in her heat in the women's 1500-meter run. She clocked in at 4:39.70, just a few seconds behind a West Texas A&M runner. Competing in the same event included Charlie Davidson, who finished in 10th place (4:52.79) in heat 8, while in heat 9, Millie Leitich got a second-place finish clocking in at 4:56.54.
CBU continues its busy weekend as the team heads out to the Long Beach State Invitational at Cerritos College.
