CERRITOS, Calif. — As three days worth of competition came to an end Saturday at the Long Beach State Invitational, new personal records were made by California Baptist University.
Abdel El-Hajjami ran an all-time personal best time in the 800-meter, crossing the finish line in a minute, 54.11 seconds. Anthony Avilla also grabbed a personal record and wasn't too far off his teammate's time, finishing with a time of 1:55.81. Lucas Graham was right on Avila's heels with a time of 1:55.88.
"I think the best thing about today was that the team did a really good job of not focusing so much on the clock but running tactically smart and putting themselves in a good position at the end of the race," said assistant coach Sean Henning.
The Lancers are back in action next week in La Jolla, competing at the Triton Invitational on April 25th, which starts at 10 a.m.
