LA JOLLA, Calif. — The rain and wind may have been pouring down on the athletes during the Triton Invitational on the campus of UC San Diego, but California Baptist University found success among the dampness.
In the 1500-meter run, senior Taylor Guske grabbed a personal-best time of four minutes and 2.47 seconds to take first in his heat.
Abdel El-Hajjami, who currently ranks second in NCAA Division II in the steeplechase, had a monstrous day during the 800-meter run, finishing fourth in his heat with a time of 1:52.87 seconds to set a new school record in the process.
Bruk Assefa ran the steeplechase in 9:42.42 to take sixth in the event.
The Lancers are back in action next week in Irvine, competing at the Steve Scott Invitational on May 2nd, with the event starting at 9 a.m.
