RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- With just about a month before the NCAA Division II championship meet, California Baptist University is in full stride of preparations. The Lancers had runners at both the Bryan Clay Invitiational and Mt. SAC Relays Friday.
While most of the team competed at the Bryan Clay Invitational, Abdel El-Hajjami competed at the Mt. SAC Relays in the 3,000-meter steeplechase event and finished in 12th place in nine minutes, 0.05 seconds.
In Azusa, three Lancers took on the 1500-meter race with Valentin Robert leading the charge in at 3:56.59 seconds. Elliot Choe finished in second-place in his heat (4:03.47) and right behind him was Julian Hernandez who crossed the finish line in at 4:10.
At the Beach Invitational, Taylor Guske grabbed a new personal-best time, finishing in first place in the 1000-meter with a time of 30:52.50. Leandro Santillan wasn't far behind his teammate in 11th place (32:35.10). Jorge Estrada also had a personal best time, running in the same event and finishing up in 13th place (32:50.00) while Bryton Reim rounded out the four Lancers in the event, clocking in at 33:31.10.
CBU continues its busy weekend as the team heads out to the Long Beach State Invitational at Cerritos College.
