LA JOLLA, Calif. — The rain and wind may have been pouring down on the athletes during the Triton Invitational on the campus of UC San Diego Saturday, but California Baptist University still found success among the dampness.
After taking some weeks off for part of the track season, Veronica Hall provided the the highlight of the night. She finished fifth overall and first in her heat during the 800-meter run, setting a new school record and qualifying for nationals with her time of two minutes, 11.40 seconds. Hall has already qualified for nationals in the 1500-meter event.
Millie Leitich grabbed a new personal record with a time of 4:53.45 in the 1500-meter run, taking fourth-place in her heat.
In the 3K, Kim Rabenstein also set a new personal record with a time of 10:11.02.
Hall, Leitich, Charlie Davidson and Alicia Williams teamed up to finish fourth place (3:58.15) in the 1600-meter relay.
Rounding out the success for the Lancers was freshman Katie Deimling, who took third in the 3000-meter steeplechase, clocking in at 11:11.75.
The Lancers are back in action next week in Irvine, competing at the Steve Scott Invitational on May 2nd, with the event starting at 9 a.m.
