MENLO PARK, Calif. — Just days after getting back from the Midlands Tournament, California Baptist University sent another squad to the Menlo Invitational.
The tournament in Northern California represented a tough challenge for the wrestlers who did not participate at the Midlands Tournament.
Representing the Lancers at the 174-pound weight class, Christian Smith won the tournament going 4-0 for the day with a notable one minute, 59 second pin of Reed Tennyson of Southern Oregon.
Slater Johnson also wrestled in the 174 bracket and finished the tournament in fourth place, with a 2:36 pin and a 17-7 major decision to his name.
Trent Smith at 133 won his two matches by major decisions for a top-six finish.
Bryce Benlian, Bradley Christensen, Micah Lopez, Martiros Vardanian and Aaron Wu also competed at the tournament and wrestled hard against tough opponents.
The Lancers head back up north to face Stanford Saturday at 2 p.m.
