LONG BEACH, Calif. — After a busy week and battling tired legs, California Baptist University's men's track team capped off the week at the Beach Invitational Saturday.
Dennis Messmer just barely missed a personal record in the 800-meter, clocking in at one minute, 53.90 seconds. His best time this season is 1:53.14, which is less than a second off an NCAA Division II provisional mark.
Anthony Lozano, who is coming off illness and raced last night, also put in a solid time Saturday. The junior finished in under two minutes, crossing the finish line in 1:56.11.
CBU takes a week off to gear up for the PacWest Championship Meet April 28-29. The Lancers have nine runners with guaranteed spots in the championships, while others have a good standing heading into the meet, hosted by Azusa Pacific.
