RIVERSIDE, Calif. — Less than a week away from the National Cheerleading Association National Championship, California Baptist University showcased its talents Saturday night in front of a packed Van Dyne Gym.
Both the CBU Golden Girls and Blue Crew, along with UC Santa Barbara and Orange Coast College, showed off their skills, performing chants and dance routines that will be seen on the stage at The Band Shell in Daytona Beach, Fla., next weekend. It was a final tune up for the Lancers, who are looking to keep their undefeated streak (since 2013) alive and grab their fourth-straight championship crown.
CBU made history last year by becoming the first All-Girls Division II squad to win its third-consecutive championship. This year, CBU has the chance to be the first Division II team ever to win four-straight. The Lancers were the last to compete after scoring the highest in the previous and came into finals looking to clean up their timing and execution. They did just that, finishing with a 94.58, more than two points ahead of runner-up University of Central Oklahoma.
