LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Four goals from Kyle Christian highlighted a valiant effort from 17th-ranked California Baptist University in a 20-9 road loss against second-ranked UCLA at the Spieker Aquatics Center on Friday.
Christian totaled six points in all, with two assists, and three steals for one of the best all-around performances from a Lancer this season. CBU dropped 16-9 on the year, while the Bruins improved to 14-1.
CBU gets six days off from competition before it takes on the home stretch of the Western Water Polo Association season, with four more conference games left in its seven-game slate. The Lancers first travel to Santa Clara on Thursday for a 3 p.m. game and will then play in the Santa Clara Rodeo Oct. 20-21, facing Brown, San Jose State and Bucknell.
Senior Day is the week after that, as the Lancers will host Loyola Marymount for a crucial WWPA contest on Thursday, Oct. 26th at 7 p.m.
Dominick Nevarez scored two goals, assisted on another and added two steals in the game. Tanner Shore notched a goal, assist and steal in the loss for the Lancers, who received nine saves and three steals in three quarters from goalie Gabe Thorne.
