The 18th-ranked Trailblazers won both games in Friday's doubleheader with the No. 17 Lancers, 14-12 and 6-3. Dixie State improves to 20-5, 9-2 in the PacWest and CBU drops to 16-9, 7-4 this season. Saturday's season finale is set for a noon first pitch at Totman Stadium.
Bryce Macy led the offense, with a 4-for-8 showing over both games at the plate, on Friday. Luke Navigato (3-for-6), Zack Norris (2-for-3), Brian Ruhm (3-for-8) and John Glenn (2-for-6) all had hits in both games, as well.
CBU blasted a season-high four home runs in game one. Ryan Williams, Ruhm, Glenn and Macy all hit one out of the park to help the Lancers build a 12-3 lead going into the eighth after they'd scored in six of the first seven innings.
The Trailblazers did not quit and came all the way back in the eighth, 12-12, only to grab the win in the ninth, 14-12.
In the nightcap, Dixie State took a 1-0 lead in the second inning. CBU came back with a two-run third to take an advantage on a two-run single from Macy, following a walk to Navigato and a Nick Plaia double.
The Trailblazers reclaimed a 5-2 lead and the Lancers pulled within two, with a run in the fourth on a Norris RBI single.
CBU could not pull off the comeback, though, in a 6-3 loss.
