Martirez Named PacWest Player of the Week

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Samantha Martirez, the reigning PacWest Freshman of the Year, earned the conference's Golfer of the Week award in her first opportunity after California Baptist University debuted at the Skyhawk West Regional on Monday and Tuesday.
Martirez finished a team-best ninth in the 100-player field after she shot even-par 71 in the second and final round to complete a 149 (78-71). CBU took seventh out of 20 teams with a 612 (305-307).
Overall, Martirez played her last four holes in both rounds at a combined one-over. She birdied three times in round two and played her final six holes one-under to record the Lancers' first par or better round of the year.
The Lancers hit another preview next week when they attend Dallas Baptist's NCAA Division II Championship Preview at Houston's Bay Oaks Country Club Monday and Tuesday.
