RIVERSIDE, Calif. – For the second time in two weeks, California Baptist University held a signing day for the newest addition to the Lancer family through Team IMPACT, with men's water polo officially announcing Davis Galluzzo to the team.
Team IMPACT's mission is to improve the quality of life for children facing life-threatening and chronic illnesses through the power of team. The organization paired CBU and Galluzzo, who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) when he was two-years old.
"We are excited to have Davis with us for the year," Coach Kevin Rosa said. "He helps with the chemistry of the team and he adds an increased intensity level when he is at our games."
On Thursday evening, in front of the team, members of the CBU Athletics staff and media, Galluzzo participated in his Draft Day by signing his Institutional Letter of Intent to officially join the Lancers.
Galluzzo was also introduced with the men's water polo team on the team's Senior Night game versus Loyola Marymount back in November. He was presented with his own water polo cap and took part in pregame festivities, including introductions and the national anthem.
Once the paperwork was signed, Galluzzo joined his new teammates and coaches at the Lancer basketball games across campus at the CBU Events Center. He was the Team IMPACT Junior Lancer of the Game and helped deliver the game ball for tip-off between the Lancers and Concordia University of Irvine Eagles.
"We are happy to have Davis join the Lancer athletic family," Director of Athletics Dr. Micah Parker said. "Our men's water polo team will benefit from having him be a part of the program."
