RIVERSIDE, Calif. – California Baptist University will host its first-ever Education Day Game during the upcoming women's basketball season.
Elementary students will receive free admission to the Western Athletic Conference game on Thursday, January 31 against Utah Valley. The goal of the Education Day Game is to excite kids about going to college.
"We're excited to open our doors to the local schools and to help get students thinking that college is something they want to work for in the future," Director of Athletics Dr. Micah Parker said. "I would have loved to had this opportunity when I was in grade school."
Tip-off is scheduled for 11 a.m., which makes it an ideal time for a field trip for schools in the Inland Empire. The game will feature educational video challenges on the video scoreboard of the CBU Events Center and a fun halftime game with Steve Max, a master of Simon Sez.
"We can't wait to play in front of the loudest students in the Inland Empire," Coach Jarrod Olson said. "This will be one of our biggest games of the season."
Those interested in attending or taking part are asked to visit www.cbulancers.com/educationday and fill out the interest form.
