CBU Starts Fall Finale Historically Strong

RESULTS
IRVINE, Calif. – Several historic performances has California Baptist University tied for second place and three Lancers in top-25 standing through 36 holes at the UC Irvine Invitational.
CBU shot one-under-par 575 through two rounds (293-282) at the Santa Ana Country Club on Monday. It has the Lancers 12 shots off the overall leader, Cal Poly (563), and tied for the runner-up spot with Santa Clara, with 18 more holes left to play on Tuesday. The third round of the tournament, which is CBU's final of the fall, will begin at 7:45 a.m., with live stats available at Golfstat.
Erica Wang scored a historic five-under-par total of 139 (72-67) that has her in a second-place tie in the tournament individually. Wang's 139 is tied for the second-best 36-hole total from an individual in CBU history. Wang carded 139s on two other occasions, and she also tied herself for the second-best single round in program history with the 67 in the afternoon.
Samantha Martirez put herself in ninth-place standing with a 142 (70-72), while Yifei Wang scored in both rounds, as well, with a 147 (76-71) that has her 23rd in the 71-golfer field.
Kristyna Abrahamova and Jocelyn Chee both scored in one of the two rounds on Monday. Abrahamova had a seven-stroke improvement from rounds one to two, and is in 34th place with a 149 (77-72). Chee is in 42nd with a 151 (75-76).
In the second round, the Lancers moved up from fourth to second place, with the 282 in the second round. It is tied for the third best single round from a team in CBU history, while its 575 is the third-best, 36-hole score in program lore, as well.
It has CBU in impressive standing in a talented field made up of three of the five teams out of the Big West Conference, including reigning champion Long Beach State (fourth, 577). The Lancers also hold leads over South Dakota State (fifth, 578), a top-three finisher in the Summit League the last two years, Northern Illinois, Boise State, Cal State Fullerton, UC Irvine and CSUN.
