SAN DIEGO — After grabbing a provisional mark in the 800-meter event last outing, California Baptist University's Berenice Cleyet-Merle grabbed another Friday evening in the 1500m race at the San Diego State Invitational.
The senior looks to qualify for her third consecutive trip to the NCAA Division II Championship Meet, after making the trip last year for both the 1500m and 800m, as well as in 2016 for the 1500m. Cleyet-Merle finished Friday's race in four minutes, 31.38 seconds to take sixth overall and grab her second provisional mark.
Emeline Delanis and Fruzsi Ladanyi also picked up provisional marks, crossing the finish line one right after the other for seventh and eighth place, respectively. Delanis posted a time of 4:33.22, while Ladanyi clocked in at 4:33.55 to both beat out the 4:33.86 provisional standard time.
Natalia Novak was just outside the provisional time, finishing the 1500m race in 4:36.83 for ninth place, making it four Lancers in the top-10.
Kim Rabenstein and Kate Robinson respectively took third and fourth in the 3K Invite race. Rabenstein crossed the finish line first, 9:58.07, while Robinson wasn't far behind, finishing in 9:58.84. Their times move them into fourth and fifth, respectively, in the all-time CBU times list.
CBU heads to the San Francisco State Distance Carnival next week, hoping to keep progressing forward toward the postseason.
