Lancers Take on #22 Stanford

Zander Silva got things off to a hot start, defeating Jack Ramalia by an 11-1 major decision to give the Lancers a 4-0 lead. The Cardinal secured the 40-4 victory to improve to an undefeated 6-0 this year. The Lancers make a quick turnaround, competing in the California Collegiate Open on Saturday.
Stanford is coming off 34th and 24th-place finishes at the NCAA Championships the last two years. The Cardinal currently have three top-20 ranked wrestlers, and is in position for its best season in Division I since it took 19th in Division I back in 2016.
Silva wasted no time in building up a 6-0 lead and two-plus minutes of riding time in the first period of the first match of the dual. He increased his lead to nine, 10-1, in the second period before locking up the 11-1 major decision at 141 pounds.

Antonio Saldate put together another impressive match for the Lancers in what was the most exciting bout of the night at 125. The freshman found himself trailing Gabriel Townsell 9-3 at the end of the first three minutes.
Saldate fought back and tied the match at 10-10 going into the third, thanks to an escape and then a takedown and four-point near fall that came all in one motion.

A reversal early in the third kept things tied at 12-12, but Townsell just managed to escape with a 16-13 decision over Saldate.
